- Shepard Branch: Saturday, June 27, 2026 (1:00 PM – 2:00 PM)
- Whitehall Branch: Monday, June 29, 2026 (2:30 PM – 3:30 PM)
Schedule: One-day sessions (each location hosts a single workshop)
Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Improv & Comedy Instructor to lead engaging, one-day workshops for library participants. This session will introduce the fundamentals of improvisation and comedy through fun, interactive activities that build confidence, creativity, and communication skills.
This is a short-term opportunity ideal for instructors who enjoy performing arts and working with groups in a lively, supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a 1-hour improv and comedy workshop
- Facilitate interactive games, exercises, and group activities
- Teach basic improv concepts such as “yes, and,” storytelling, and character building
- Encourage participation in a fun, inclusive, and judgment-free environment
- Manage group dynamics and maintain a positive atmosphere
- Arrive prepared with structured activities and lesson flow
Qualifications
- Experience in improv, comedy, theater, or performing arts
- Strong ability to engage and energize a group
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Experience working with youth or group programs is a plus
Preferred Skills
- Background in teaching, coaching, or workshop facilitation
- Ability to adapt activities for different age groups and skill levels
- Experience leading interactive or performance-based sessions
Additional Details
- This is a one-day per location commitment
- Instructors may be booked for one or multiple sessions
- All workshops take place onsite at Columbus Public Library branches
